q+A Session

Q: If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

A: I mean, there are so many amazing places I would love to live. I am currently saving up for the most gorgeous 40-million-dollar home in San Francisco, but I have my eye on some other homes of equal value in Los Angeles, San Diego, NYC, ETC. Donations are being accepted through Venmo @the_bkbarton. On the flip side I have also had the dream of converting a school bus into a tiny home and roaming the world, so really it is one end of the spectrum or another, no middle ground here.

Q: What is the best part about the interior design program at USU?

A: The faculty, every single professor I have had has gone above and beyond what is expected. You can tell that they care for each individual student that they work with. If you put the effort into your work, they will put the effort into you!

Q: Which project are you most proud of?

A: I am most proud of my performing arts venue. Musical theatre was a huge part of my life for years and when I went into that project I had a clear vision as to the story I wanted to tell with the building and I feel like I accomplished what I was trying to tell. Here is to the curtain being lifted on the rest of my life!

Q: What is your favorite material to design with and why?

A: This is a tough one! I think that when I design, I want to introduce several textures and feels throughout the space. I love a high gloss moment juxtaposed against a super matte moment. I think that playing with different patterns and materials adds layers to a room.
