Front Exterior
The Mendocino Residence is located along the coast of northern California. By utilizing California’s warm climate, I was able to incorporate more glass in the design, which led to the clean, minimalist outline of the exterior. The residence is meant for a retiring couple and aging-in-place components are implemented into the design, with zero-threshold entrances, ergonomic push latch cabinets, and an elevator leading to the master bedroom, for future use. The beach home includes a garage with a guest suite above, for visitors. The design intent is to pull inspiration from the beach, and a color palette composed of blues, tans, whites, and beiges is used. The materials used are also drawn from the beach, such as shell, driftwood, and rope. The residence is perfect for a relaxing retirement along the coast.
